NTI Shadow能夠將你的照片、音樂、數據和視頻文件自動、連續地備份到電腦上連接的各種存貯設備上，例如MP3播放器、個人媒體播放器、NAS設備及硬盤等。本軟件允許您定時或者持續地備份您重要的文件至其他存儲介質。您可以在文件更新時立即備份，或者指定一個時間間隔來檢查是否需要備份，或者在您指定的某個時刻來檢查是否需要備份。
Shadow也可以備份您舊的文件（更新之前的文件版本）到特定的子文件夾里面，一旦您需要舊的文件，您還可以在這個特定的文件夾內找到，您可以選擇三種備份舊文件的方式
Shadow支持多種存儲介質，包括內置硬盤、USB或者IEEE--1394外置磁盤、U盤、NAS設備等等。在使這些存儲介質之前，您必須將它們正確地連接到您的電腦上，并且確保資源管理器可以正確地讀寫。
讓您定時或實時地備份您重要的資料到別的保存裝置。備份的時間點有以下三種狀況：資料更新時，立即進行備份動作；固定時間檢查資料是否更新，如果資料更新的話，則進行備份動作；指定時間檢查資料是否更新，如果資料更新的話，則進行備份動作。
當您更新資料時，NTI Shadow也可以備份每次資料更新的版本，將版本資料備份至您設置之備份目的資料夾內，萬一您需要某個版本的特定資料，您可以在備份目的地資料內之特定資料夾查找，有三種方式供您選擇：每次更新時，即記錄每一版本更新之備份資料限制紀錄次數之版本更新之備份資料及只紀錄最新之備份資料。
Shadow支持各種保存裝置，包含內接式硬盤機 、USB或IEEE-1394外接式硬盤機、隨身盤、網絡硬盤(NAS)等等。使用前，您必需將保存裝置正確地連接到您的計算機上，并且確認資源管理器可以正確地訪問。
