大小∼體重∼肩高：

50 - 80cm．體長：1.2 - 1.5m,．重：雄性 41 - 65 kg,．雌性 35 - 45 kg！

壽命：12 - 14 年．．．

分佈：坦桑尼亞

獵豹曾經出現在中國．埃及和印度古代的文獻．．．

現在在亞洲已幾乎絕跡．只剩伊朗有可能有二百頭和據說阿富汗也可能有一些 ．．．

但在非洲雖然看似分佈甚廣．但其實除了在納米比亞 (Namibia) 數量較多外．其餘的地方都數量不多．很難令數量回升．．．

獵豹喜歡在廣闊的草原和砂地一展牠們時速 110 公里的狩獵英姿．但在一些灌木林地還是可找到獵豹的蹤跡．．．

獵豹利用牠們銳利的視力視察周圍的環境．尋找合適的獵物．．．

找好目標後．獵豹會躡足走近至獵物 50 米左右的距離．然後突然加速．如果成功在短距離內 (約 300 米) 追及獵物．．．

獵豹通常的手法是用前腳把正急跑中的獵物跘倒．然後一口咬著獵物的頸部令其窒息而死．．．

殺死獵物後．獵豹會看看附近有沒有其他大型獵食者．一切安全便立即以最快速度進食．．．

雖然如此．獵豹光天化日下有如做 show 般的狩獵還是很易給獅子．鬣狗．花豹和禿鷹看到．經常在進食的時候被牠們搶走食物．．．

在南非有一種帝王獵豹 (King cheetah)．身上的斑點連成塊狀．．．

起初以為這是另一品種．．．

後來證實跟正常有斑點的獵豹是同一種類．分別只是一個隱性基因令斑點變作斑塊．跟黑豹和普通豹的分別一樣．．．
