[color=red]※[/color]我想一般人看到 opentype ，這種字體格式應該會有以上的問題吧！

[color=red]※[/color]我想太底層的東西就不用說了，因為我們也不是字體設計師或程式設計師之類的，那簡單的說，opentype 是以 unicode 為基礎，是由 adobe 為主要開發者，而且是用來取代 adobe type 1 字體，也就代表 opentype 對於postscript 的支援自然不在話下，再加上 opentype

是可以跨平臺，所以自然也就很適合拿來需要轉換平臺或是設備（輸出）的平面設計師使用囉！而且 opentype 拿來在螢幕上看也比 truetype

來的更平滑漂亮，所以啊，不管是平面設計還是網頁設計甚至是視訊動畫.....等，adobe 都極力的推薦使用 opentype 格式的字體。

[color=red]※[/color]當然也有 truetype 使用 unicode 來重新開發的，只是 truetype 的字庫（可以儲存的字數）先天就比 opentype 來的少很多很多，也就造成一般需要另外安裝所謂的”外字集”，什麼是外字集，也就是打不出來的字都要用，例如：王建?的?，如果在 truetype 的字 truetype 的字型下，通常會出現空格，除了?之外，還有?、?....等，都需要字集，但是如果你使用 opentype 字型，就會比較少遇到這種缺字的情形囉！

[color=red]※[/color]另外啊，因為 opentype 的字庫比較多，再加上它是新推出的當然也會有一些功能是 truetype 所沒有的囉，像是”字符”這個好用又好玩的功能就是truetype 所沒有的，至於什麼是字符、又如何使用字符....等，請看另一篇文章，相信看完後，你一定會覺得早一點改用 opentype 真是好處多多，至於 truetype 我想這個”阿公”可以請它退休囉！
