台灣微軟表示，Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 單一的整合開發環境讓軟體開發人員以熟悉的技術及工具，一致的開發方式，創建各個平台的應用，從模型及架構設計、程式碼撰寫及管控、偵錯、測試、到佈署， 所有工作都可在 Visual Studio 2010 中完成。

Visual Studio 2010兩個最大的功能就是建模(modeling)與測試(testing)。

開發人員在撰寫程式碼時，常常會忽略定期的測試，因為這種做法往往過於耗費時間。Visual Studio 2010的一個新工具能夠協助正在撰寫程式的開發者，自動地顯示在單位測試，要求開發者要對程式碼進行驗證。另一個工具是讓開發者在測試失敗之後，可以看 到在程式碼中每個bug更細節的訊息。

在Visual Studio 2010，微軟也推出一個新功能，就像是飛機上的黑盒子(black box)。當一個應用程式正在進行測試的時候，黑盒子會紀錄機器與應用程式的狀態，開發者可以在測試的時候，看到過去debug的紀錄，並且可以進入運算 堆疊(computing stack)的所有層級，找出bug可能發生在哪個部分。

Mendlen表示，當一個bug產生時，我們會有一個螢幕快照(screen shot)，並透過這個黑盒子傳遞給開發者。

Visual Studio Team System 2010將會包括微軟「Oslo」建模策略當中的一部分。「Oslo」建模策略是微軟今年早些時候在TechEd會議當中所提出的。 Architecture Explorer將可讓架構師與開發者建立、客製，以及看到一個應用程式的建構圖，以強化開發軟體時的一致性。此軟體也支援Object Management Group的統一塑模語言(Unified Modeling Language)與特定領域語言(Domain-Specific Language)。
